Harrison-branded packaging is made from plant-based materials and is compostable

Single use plastics continues to remain high on the agenda for many of us. Since October 2014, Harrison Catering Services increased its commitment to sustainability and reduced its environmental impact by introducing a new range of completely compostable branded packaging across the business.

The plant based eco packaging is certified compostable in under 12 weeks and unlike most foodservice packaging, it can be recycled together with food waste making recycling easier. The disposal of compostable waste can be less expensive than general waste and is much better for the environment. We are keen to work with our clients to find a suitable compostable food waste collector in their area.

Last year Harrison saved 49 tonnes of carbon by using Vegware packaging across the business which is greatly appreciated by both customers and staff. We will continue to work with our supply chain and our customers to look at new initiatives and best practice that contribute to minimising the impact on our environment. After all, we can all make a difference to the world we live in
