First Class Receives Hospitality Qualifications | Harrison Catering
- Harrison
Harrison Catering Services recently celebrated the graduation of 10 of its managers from its inaugural Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Diploma programme.
Working with HIT (Hospitality Industry Training), Harrison implemented the programme to enable its managers to achieve a Level 3 Diploma. It is delivered on-site with the support of a HIT training assessor. The standard programme is further enhanced with five off the job learning days on topics like leadership, customer focus, commercial focus and people, allowing the managers to work together on case studies and theories of management and to think about how these could be applied with their own staff.
“We worked closely with HIT to design the content of these learning days to align not only to the qualification, but to Harrison’s business priorities and those behaviours and actions important to the successful running of our sites. All 10 of our graduates completed this enhanced programme and are already applying what they have learned in their day-to-day roles with great results,” said Training Manager Alex Taylor.
“Enabling our managers to earn a nationally recognised qualification supports Harrison’s commitment to developing and retaining the best talent the industry has to offer and is an important point of difference for us as a company.”
Linda Martin, Quality and Development Director of HIT, endorses the partnership approach to programme design and delivery. “Working collaboratively on training initiatives such as this ensures that the emphasis and style of delivery really fits the individual and the business requirements. With the planned changes to apprenticeships and the introduction of Trailblazers, Harrison and HIT have demonstrated that an employer-led approach, with a work-based learning provider’s assistance, can work for all parties.”
