Harrison wins the BRIT School contract

Wednesday 02 December 2009

Harrison Catering Services are delighted to have gained the prestigious BRIT School contract, following a highly competitive tender process.

The BRIT Performing Arts & Technology School is a City College for the Technology of the Arts - a state-funded school, independent of any Local Education Authority; it does not charge fees and places are highly sought after. The School is the only one of its kind in England dedicated to education and vocational training for the performing arts and the technology which makes performance possible.

The school is funded by the DCSF and the British Record Industry Trust (the charitable arm of the British record industry). As you might imagine, the school boasts some famous alumni including Leona Lewis, Katie Melua, The Kooks and Amy Winehouse, but it is about much more than producing successful performers: its focus is to educate young people for any of the many career choices available in the performing, visual and digital arts, so former BRIT School students are just as likely to be found in A&R, marketing, sponsorship, technical, design and digital editing positions within the creative industries.  The School was rated as Outstanding by OfSTED when they last visited in February 2008.

The contract supports over 900 pupils aged from 14-18 along with over 100 staff at their site in Croydon. Harrison's dedication to providing an exciting, flexible, cost-effective fresh food catering service enabled them to beat off the proposals of several high-caliber competitors.

Geoffrey Harrison, founder and MD of Harrison Catering, said: "We are delighted to have secured this contract which enables us to provide nutritious and appetising fresh food to this unique school. As principal sponsors of the English Schools Orchestra, we take a great interest in the development of performing arts for young people - and catering at the BRIT School is another opportunity for us to contribute to the wellbeing of this country's talented youth."
