Food Hygiene Awards

High standards in food hygiene across Surrey Heath were celebrated at an awards ceremony during the summer.

Excellence Awards were presented to Harrison Catering at Gordon's School, West End, and Frimley Park Hospital.

Awards recognise 'superb standards' and require evidence of how continuous improvement is achieved at the premises.

The Council's Environmental Health Team has organised the annual Food Hygiene Awards for over 10 years and this year winners were presented with their certificates, shields and plates by the Borough's Mayor, Cllr Keith Bush.

The awards commend high standards in food hygiene at a variety of establishments including nursing homes, schools, restaurants, pubs, military establishments and hospitals.

Portfolio Holder for Economy and the Environment Cllr Patricia Pearce said "High standards of hygiene in food premises are essential to help protect the public from food poisoning. Many food businesses strive to maintain high standards throughout their operation. The Council recognises this through the Food Hygiene Awards and would like to congratulate the many homes and businesses in the Borough which achieve such high standards in food hygiene."

To earn a Commendation Certificate, the establishment must fully comply with current food hygiene regulations and show evidence of good practice for an initial 18 month period. The Merit Award is available to certificate holders at the end of that period.
