Harrison Catering mobilises Southgate School, Cockfosters

Wednesday 09 January 2008

Harrison Catering announces the successful mobilisation of catering services for Southgate school in Cockfosters.

The school currently has 1550 students and approximately 150 staff and has an excellent reputation for academic success reflected in its ‘Science Status’ School.

The school is proud of the diversity of its students and from the start of the caterer consultation process, stipulated that it was essential that the meal service reflected this diversity with students dietary and religious requirements reflected in the choice of food available.

The school were also adamant that the new school meal service must feature predominantly fresh food, a wide range of healthy options available every day and that only excellent quality ingredients are used.

Alison Curtis, Sales Director of Harrison Catering said ‘We are proud to be working with such a prestigious school and are delighted to be given this fantastic opportunity to showcase our fresh food offer to such a pleasant and appreciative group of students. Naturally, all of the food that we will serve will exceed the government food standards, but good food doesn’t have to be boring, and we will work with the school to make mealtimes as fun and interesting as possible.

The contract covers the provision of breakfast (including hot food, cooked to order as requested, rolls and cereal) and lunch to include at least three different hot options (including a vegetarian option). Lunch service also includes 4 different varieties of salad and sandwiches (either made to order or on the counter).

As the move towards fresh food is a significant step for both the school and the existing catering staff, Harrison’s Executive Chef, Mark Stower, will help launch the new service, providing training and guidance to ensure a marked improvement in food quality from day one.
