Maintained Education
Our experience in maintained school catering goes back to 1983, and we currently provide meals for over 80,000 pupils in primary, secondary, higher and further education. Over 70% of our total business comes from the education sector.
We pride ourselves on fulfilling our promise to cook and serve fresh meals on-site, even when space and funding is at a premium. We firmly believe that eating habits can only be improved by making the alternatives to fast food more appealing, which we have succeeded in doing in a wide range of schools. Maintained school clients are offered an individual meal service tailored to their particular needs, with local and ethnic variations catered for as a matter of course – in addition, we are always keen to work with clients on the introduction of cost and time-saving technologies such as online meal payment for parents and biometric cashless till systems for pupils.
Significantly, our long-term vision allows us to be extremely competitive, and we have been fully market tested in both the public and private sectors; around 30% of Harrison’s turnover comes from five maintained ‘Group School’ Local Authority contracts in London including Ealing and Lambeth, and within the last two years, three of these contracts have been retained following extremely competitive tender processes.
