Food with thought – The Harrison Blog
Carol Ann Duffy officially opens LWA Communications Hub
Thursday 17 November 2011

The first half of the event saw students put on some fantastic displays of poetry, dance and acting, to which the finale was greeted with standing ovation from the capacity audience which included local MP, Rachel Reeves, senior figures from Academy sponsors E-ACT plus many other notable figures from the local community including our own Geoffrey Harrison.
The audience (and Carol Ann Duffy) then enjoyed a canapés and wine reception served in the dining area. Canapés included miniature steak and chips and Paul Taylor's (Talk Talk Preston) signature dish crème brulee eggs. Front of House was overseen by Craig Robinson (Harrogate Ladies' College) who worked with Food Technology Students to ensure that everyone was attended to.
The night was rounded-off by a reading by the Poet Laureate of her verse, including passages from her new collection The Bees.
