Harrison delights OFSTED again
Tuesday 01 December 2009
We are thrilled that another of our schools, St Anne's RC Primary in Lambeth, was recently rated ‘Outstanding' by OFSTED. What made this particularly exciting was that the visiting inspectors were joined by senior members of the School Food Trust, who were checking to make sure that the nutrient-based standards were not only being met, but being used to best advantage to create food which the children would enjoy and engage with. St Anne's is only the second school in the country to be awarded outstanding at all levels, and we are delighted to have contributed to that success.
The evidence we supplied showing our adherence to nutrient-based standards was stated to be very good and high quality, and they agreed all standards were being met. The food quality was thought to be outstanding - it looked attractive, and they could tell by looking at the service that all recommendations were being actively practiced; the food was displayed to the advantage of pupils who were encouraged to make good choices; pupils had time to make selections and were not rushed; jugs and beakers were quickly replenished; the food looked fantastic and tasted great, with an excellent variety of fruit and salads; the Catering Staff were friendly and attentive, and encouraged pupils to eat from all food groups; and perhaps most satisfyingly, pupils were attentive to suggestions by their peers - the school has Year 6 children helping to supervise and serve salads.
Many congratulations to the Harrison Catering team at St Annes, and to their Client Services Manager Sonia Redhead. Long may it continue!
