Harrison a hit with Ofsted at Gordon's School
Wednesday 18 November 2009
At Harrison Catering we're delighted to work with a wide range of schools, all of which are as different and distinctive as their students. We're particularly proud when we feel we're contributing positively to a school's environment, and although this is sometimes hard to judge, occasionally we get some independent acknowledgement that we're doing a good job.
As any teacher or parent knows, an Ofsted inspection is a serious, ‘warts-and-all' investigation of how a school is performing its duties to its students. One of our longest-held contracts is at Gordon's School in Woking, Surrey, and they have recently had an ‘outstanding' Ofsted report. This is a real coup for Headmaster Denis Mulkerrin and his team, so many congratulations from all of us at Harrison Catering.
But what was so satisfying for us personally was the following paragraph in the report:
"The standard of catering in the school is outstanding. The catering for the school is managed by a company which employs the staff to work in the school. The kitchen is well managed and the kitchen manager ensures that all the staff are trained appropriately in their roles. The kitchen is clean and hygienic and a visit by the Environmental Health Officer has graded the premises as 'excellent'. The menu is prepared on a three weekly basis and offers three choices on each main meal including a vegetarian option. Feedback from the boarders stated that the food is of a very good standard. Additionally, the catering staff are very aware of specific dietary needs for any particular children and ensure that these are met. Mealtimes are well ordered and pleasant social occasions."
So well done to the whole team at Gordon's for delivering an excellent standard of catering.
